Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is set to speak to the media on Thursday.

It is unclear what the motivation behind his press appearance will be but pressure is starting to build on manager Garry Monk, whose side had lost four on the bounce before their win over Bournemouth last night.

So should Monk be concerned by the Chansiri's impending press appearance?

We asked our FLW writers for their thoughts...

Potentially, but if the trigger was going to be pulled, you’d have thought it was in the wake of Saturday’s defeat at Wycombe.

Monk is under pressure and he’s only a couple of poor results away from the sack that’s quite clear.

However, I can’t imagine that Chansiri would announce a press conference and then openly throw his manager under a bus.

Of course, he needs to front up and show some leadership, which is what I think this is all to do with.

In terms of Monk, there’s little point worrying about Chansiri speaking to the press. His main worry needs to be results and the gap opening up at the bottom of the Championship table.

Can you name the mascot of these 37 EFL clubs?

I don't think overly.

Obviously, it's rare that Chansiri really talks to the media - indeed, it's not normal for most owners to - so that might be a point of interest for Monk but I would have thought, if he's concerned about getting sacked, he'd be told first and directly rather than it breaking through the media.

Indeed, with a game between then and now you can't imagine this is a pre-meditated press conference for the sacking of Monk and so whilst the manager's future will likely come up in conversation, I don't think it really changes what will happen to the manager - it'll be results that decide that.

Chansiri speaking to the media doesn't necessarily mean that Monk is going to lose his job. He should already be concerned with his position, regardless of ongoing off the field, let alone anything additional meetings.

Their form isn't good enough and if it continues, Wednesday will be relegated. Monk will be pleased with getting a positive result against Bournemouth, but needs to back it up against Millwall on Saturday.

Wednesday's form in the whole of 2020 hasn't been good enough and a few more negative results and Monk's position as Owls boss is going to come under serious threat.
