Reading are enduring a woeful season as Jaap Stam's side languish in 18th spot in the Sky Bet Championship table.

After a sensational third placed finish last season and a play-off final, this campaign has been a stark contrast and the Royals are certainly not immune to relegation this year.

One player who has had a tough season is striker Yann Kermorgant.

The Frenchman was prolific for the Berkshire outfit last season, but has been hampered by injuries this season which has made it tough for him

How would you sum up the 36-year-old's season so far?

We discuss....

Adam Simeoni

Sadly, I think age is finally catching up with the Frenchman.

He was prolific last year, with his goals helping Reading to the play-off final, but now a rapid downturn in form from his teammates and his tiring legs have seen him struggle.

Set to retire at the end of the season, Kermorgant has chosen the right moment to call time on his career.

The 35-year-old striker underwent surgery in the summer and it looks as if it has taken its toll on him.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's alarming drop off has shown how hard it is for players of a certain age to rediscover their form after a serious injury and Kermorgant is no different.

Reading could have done with another season like last time out from him but he just hasn't been able to match it.

Alfie Burns

He hasn’t found the level of consistency he showed in the Championship last season, which hasn’t helped Jaap Stam’s cause.

Reading needed Kermorgant to pick up where he left off last season, which was a big ask, but he really hasn’t delivered.

George Dagless

Stuttering.

He was limited with injuries but hasn't really hit the heights of last season and that can be said for a lot of his team-mates.

Doubts will creep in about him at this level so let's see what he can do for the rest of this season.
