QPR saw their winless run extend to six matches on Wednesday night as they slumped to a miserable 4-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

The result means Mark Warburton's side have now failed to win a league match since their 3-2 success over Hull in mid-October, and this has seen the West London side drop to 16th in the Championship table despite their solid start to the season.

Rangers' impressive four-game winning run back in August and September led to many supporters believing their side could challenge for promotion this term, but their form has taken a dramatic turn of late to see them drop into the bottom half.

Warburton only took the reigns at the West London outfit over the summer following the departure of Steve McClaren towards the end of last term, but the club's recent results have led to some supporters doubting whether he is the right man for the job.

This has resulted in some Rs supporters suggesting prospective candidates for the managerial role at the club, with former player and current Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth touted as a possible successor to Warburton.

Ainsworth made 146 appearances for QPR between 2003 and 2010, while he is currently achieving great success in his eighth season as Wycombe manager with his side sitting at the League One summit following their promotion in 2018.

A QPR supporter posted on Facebook asking: "Anyone fancy Gareth Ainsworth as the Rs next boss?"

Plenty of QPR fans responded to this suggestion with some of them suggesting Ainsworth deserves his chance at the club, but most others claimed current boss Warburton should be given longer to turn things around at the Rs.

Here are some of their responses...

Dan Winter: Nope

Alan Hobbs: Taken him 6 years to get it right at Wycombe, Rangers wouldn't give him 6 months, before fans wanted out

Daniel Gould: Can we just stick with Warburton for 2-3 years & let him try to build something?!

Russell Tregear: I like him, don’t really want to be calling for he’s head after 17 games

Gino Padula: We tried many managers in the last 10 years. Give a chance to Gareth. He really deserve it!!!

Les Nichols: I wouldn’t wish that on Gareth , he’s going far,

Daryl Matthews: It's not just Warburton that should be getting the blame!!!! After all we do have 11 players on the pitch at one time who need to do a job, so lets look at them too!!!
