Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will be working hard on his summer transfer targets with pre-season only a matter of weeks away, with a move for Wolves winger Helder Costa back in the spotlight, following confirmation in the Express & Star that the 25-year-old will be made available for transfer by his club this summer.

Any move for Costa though will put into question the future of Whites winger Jack Clarke who chipped in with two goals and two assists in 24 appearances in what turned out to be a breakthrough year for him, that has seen him draw interest from Tottenham and others as reported in the Independent.

So would a move for Costa suggest that Clarke is on his way out at Elland Road?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"Leeds are hoping to sign Costa on loan, so this shouldn't affect players possibly leaving as Radrizzani has stated that this summer's transfer policy will be focused on big money loan moves.

"If Leeds sign Costa and then move in for another big name, such as Ivan Cavaleiro, then we might see players like Jack Clarke moved on.

"Clarke would be a great back-up option and I think that's what Leeds plan for him to have next season unless a huge bid comes in for him."

Gary Hutchinson

“No, not at all.

“I’d hope it shows that they’re putting together a decent-sized squad, covering the inadequacies of last season.

“Let’s be honest shall we? They didn’t go up because they didn’t have a big enough squad.

“When players fell injured, they needed quality from the bench and they didn’t have it. This move could be evidence of the solution to last years problem.”

George Brooks

"Costa is a very exciting player and he would be a great signing for Leeds, but that doesn’t mean Clarke should leave the club.

"He’s a very promising young player and he could have a big future ahead of him at Elland Road.

"If Leeds do end up signing Costa, then Clarke may fear for his chances of first-team football next season and want to leave the club.

"He may end up leaving, but I would be surprised to see clubs pay the £20million that Leeds want given his lack of experience at the top level."

Jacob Potter

"He’s definitely on his way out.

"Clarke has been wanted by a number of clubs throughout the season, so I am surprised to see speculation somewhat cooling in recent weeks.

"But with Costa being linked with a move to Elland Road from Wolves, it suggests to me that Leeds are working on finding a replacement for Clarke ahead of next season.

"It’s a smart move for the Whites, as Costa is definitely a strong enough replacement for the youngster."
