Football League World’s Fulham fan pundit Charles Jones has expressed his views on the way that left back Joe Bryan has performed this term, following a difficult debut campaign for the Cottagers last season.
Bryan of course joined the Whites from Bristol City, coming in as part of the plethora of new signings that arrived in west London prior to the beginning of the 2018/2019 season, which as we know ended in disaster as Fulham were relegated.
The 26-year-old has gone some way to bouncing back from last season’s disappointment, registering one goal and three assists so far this campaign, and as such, Jones was quick to heap praise on the defender when we caught up with our fan pundit earlier this week:
“He’s shown enough this term to justify the fee we paid for him, but things could obviously change on that front.
“If he left tomorrow I wouldn’t say it was money well spent, but I do believe he could prove to be a shrewd signing if he continues playing the way he has.
Has Joe Bryan impressed you so far?
“He’s arguably been our best defender, and he makes things happen down the left-side in both an attacking and defensive sense.
“I can’t have any complaints about the way he has been playing so far this season.”
Our Fulham fan pundit was also quick to pick out what he felt are Bryan’s best strengths as a player, with Jones saying:
“His strengths are definitely his crossing and his tackling.
“He’s got a great left-foot and when you’ve got a striker like Aleksandar Mitrovic in the box, that’s a brilliant asset for your full-back to have.
“He’s also a great tackler, as he seems to know exactly when to put a foot in and when to usher his opponent down the line.”
It is fair to say that Bryan has been one of Fulham’s unsung heroes thus far, and both his manager and the Fulham faithful will be hopeful that the left back can continue to hit the heights he has so far as we head towards the midway point of this Championship season.
