Sunderland made it back to back wins in the league last night with a 2-1 victory against Rochdale at Spotland.

Having drawn their opening two fixtures, pressure was on Jack Ross' side to put a run together and they've done just that. A win in the EFL Trophy arrested the slide before beating Pompey and Dale in League One action.

They were made to work again last night, Callum Camps quickly cancelled out Aiden McGeady's opener to leave to scores poised delicately at 1-1. Rochdale were the more inventive of the two sides and perhaps could have snatched a point or three themselves.

It wasn't to be. Charlie Wyke bagged his second of the season ten minutes after the break to secure all three points for the visitors. He finished from close range after a knock-down from the excellent McGeady.

Whilst it was a simple striker's finish, Wyke certainly caught the eye of Black Cats' fans last night. He struggled for form last season and ended up being kept out of the side by Will Grigg, but he was preferred to the £4m man last night in the absence of Marc McNulty.

As you'll read from these Twitter users, it seems a popular choice.
