Sheffield Wednesday were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the third round last night, after losing 2-0 to Premier League side Everton at Hillsborough.

The Owls have enjoyed a positive start to life under Garry Monk, and have picked up four points in two games under his management after salvaging a late point against Fulham at the weekend.

Tuesday night gave Monk a chance to rotate his squad against the Toffees in the League Cup, but the gulf in class eventually showed.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored two goals in quick succession to put the game out of Wednesday's reach, despite Sam Winnall squandering a big chance early on.

The night also gave midfielder Massimo Luongo the chance to impress Monk, and make only his second starting appearance for the Owls this season.

The Australian midfielder is yet to make a start in the Championship since arriving from QPR in the summer, but added real tenacity and energy to the midfield alongside Joey Pelupessy on Tuesday.

Plenty of Owls fans have took to Twitter to rave about Luongo's performance - here, we look at the best reactions...
