Football League World’s Derby County fan pundit Lisa Howard has issued her verdict on  Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney and suggested that he would be a “good addition” to the squad.

According to TEAMtalk, the Rams are one of a number of Championship teams interested in the 23-year-old forward, who has been in fantastic form this season – scoring eight goals in eight games.

The 23-year-old has been excellent since joining the Posh last summer and appears to have carried over his form from last season when he finished with 23 goals and seven assists.

Having struggled under new boss Phillip Cocu, Derby currently sit 18th in the league and Howard has indicated that improvements need to be made in the attacking third.

She said: “We need to strengthen our forward line and Toney scored 23 goals last season, so he knows where the net is.

“At 23, he is still young but has pace going forward, which we need. He also knows Jack Marriott so they would complement each other well.

“I think he would be a good addition to the squad. He would add pace and power to our forward line, which we need.”

She concluded: “All in all, it would be a decent addition.”

Derby’s three forwards have added just five league goals between them this season, from a combined 17 appearances, so it appears the Rams could benefit from adding a prolific striker–something that Toney has shown himself to be in recent years.

With Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Premier League clubs also thought to be interested in the 23-year-old it is going to be interesting to see how this one develops.
