Portsmouth are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Tom Naylor after he suffered a hamstring injury during his side's 2-1 victory over Harrogate Town on Monday night.

Kenny Jackett's side were forced to battle from behind to overcome the non-league outfit in the FA Cup first-round tie at the CNG Stadium, but they were forced to cope without Naylor following his departure in the 24th minute.

The 28-year-old had not missed a minute of action for Pompey this term prior to his injury the cup outing, and the club are yet to confirm whether the former Burton Albion man will be available for the league clash with Rochdale later this month.

Pompey have made an underwhelming start to the season following their promotion push last term, with Jackett's side currently sitting 13th in the third tier, but Naylor has been a consistently reliable presence in midfield throughout their 15 matches so far.

Portsmouth News writer Neil Allen took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to ask supporters how Jackett should replace the club captain if he is ruled out for a period of time.

Plenty of Portsmouth fans responded to this question with many of them suggesting Andy Cannon as a possible solution, while said they would expect Jackett to spring a surprise if Naylor is ruled out of action.
