Wolverhampton Wanderers have been the Sky Bet Championship’s standout side so far this season, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side playing an exciting brand of football, matched with a solid defence.

Nuno’s side currently sit top of the Championship table, and with a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon, Wolves have a perfect opportunity to cement their place as title favourites.

Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini have received plenty of praise for their respective roles so far this season, but who is Wolves’ unsung hero?

Here at FLW, we take a look…

Chris Gallagher

Romain Saiss.

Nuno Espirito Santo clearly rates him, as he brought the Moroccan straight back into the side after his suspension and he grabbed a goal too last time out against Fulham.

Among a host of quality high-profile players, Saiss has done magnificently.

He is strong and physical, giving Wolves a real presence and is ideal in complementing Neves.

A very good player and is happy to let his teammates take the credit.

George Dagless

John Ruddy.

We rightly marvel at the attacking prowess that Wolves demonstrate but they need a good defence and Ruddy has helped do that.

He's been an inspired signing from Norwich so far this season and could be about to return to the Premier League.

Adam Simeoni

I really like Barry Douglas.

The Scot, signed from the Turkish league, has an absolutely beautiful delivery, and already has notched up six assists in the league this season.

One of the most consistent players on the pitch on a weekly basis, Santo picked up a real gem by bringing this player to the club.

Sam Rourke

Conor Coady.

At Wolves, the attention is more often than not always pinpointed on the attacking talent at the club, the likes of Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota often stealing the limelight.

But Coady has been unreal for Wolves this season.

Operating as a centre-back, he is so important to Nuno Santo's side and deserves to be applauded for his efforts thus far.
