Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has launched a scathing attack on the club's centre-back Pontus Jansson.

Speaking in an interview with Football Insider, Whelan dubbed the Swede "selfish" and implored Marcelo Bielsa to cash in and get rid of him in the coming transfer window.

He was a regular in Bielsa's side last season but was guilty of making sloppy errors and was forced to sit-out the play-off ordeal with an injury.

But even with that taken into account, is Whelan's attack fair?

We discuss...

Toby Wilding

"It could be the right move.

"The mood at Leeds will be incredibly low as it is right now, so they will not want divisive figures in the dressing room to make things even worse.

"If they can get a good fee for Jansson, as has been suggested, then that can be used to strengthen the squad ready for next season, meaning this could be a beneficial move all round."

Louie Chandler

"He is out of order here and the character assassination is a bit much.

"Cashing in on Jansson would not be the worst idea as I think he is replaceable but to call him selfish just because he has been seen looking sad after the match is out of order.

"By all means call for him to be sold but there is nowhere near enough evidence to back up the slating of his personality."

Alfie Burns

"Whelan seems to have an agenda against Jansson at the minute and it is all a little bit unfair.

"The Swede was great for Leeds last season and if the club can hang onto him over the summer, that'll be great.

"However, you feel like Jansson might leave for the Premier League this summer, which has prompted Whelan to 'make his mind up' on the player.

"He needs to wind it in."
