Derby County are in the chase to sign Peterborough attacker Siriki Dembele, as per TEAMTalk.
The 24-year-old is making waves in League One with Posh and has scored five goals and provided three assists so far this season, form that has prompted interest from a host of clubs including Celtic.
The former Grimsby Town player can operate in various attacking positions, with him mainly being utilised from the left, though is just as adept through the middle.
So, in-terms of the Rams’ interest, what do you make of this from a Derby perspective? Would Dembele be a good signing for the Rams? Is he needed?
The team here at FLW discuss….
This is certainly an interesting link from a Derby perspective, particularly as their current squad is bristling with attacking talent in both wide and central areas.
Dembele has been the jewel in the Peterborough crown so far this campaign and it is easy to see why he is wanted by clubs higher up the pyramid.
I wouldn’t say this rumour is much of a goer as Derby are still yet to select a new manager, who will inevitably have their own targets in mind.
However I must admit that I can see the tricky forward being on the move sooner rather than later, as he has already proved that he is too good to be playing League One football.
If you look at that Derby squad, the Rams need to make sure that they address their attacking options in the January transfer window.
Dembele is a good player and has had success in League One, but I question whether the Rams potentially need someone with a little bit more experience of the Championship.
The problems with Jack Marriott might well repeat themselves with Dembele, although a change in management might well offer more of a different type of chance.
I can’t deny that the 24-year-old looks capable of making the step up, my issue is that I wonder whether Derby are the right club.

Yes, he would be a very smart signing for the Rams.
The goals return Derby have this season has been nothing short of embarrassing. Scoring five times in 12 games is nowhere near good enough and that needs to be addressed in the New Year.
So, Demebele will help. Whilst he’s not an out-and-out goalscorer, something they also need to find in January, he will ensure they create more chances. He can play in tight spaces, commit defenders and has an eye for a pass. Plus, he has found the net more regularly this season.
At 24, he is only going to get better, so this could be a shrewd deal for the long-term.
