Time is ticking for Leeds United, as they look for a head coach to replace Garry Monk, who surprisingly handed in his resignation at Elland Road last month, after just 12 months in West Yorkshire.

There has been no clear indication of who will replace the 38-year old at Elland Road, with early favourite Aitor Karanka reportedly not being considered by Andrea Radrizzani, despite the former Middlesbrough boss finding himself without a club.

Since then, odds have been cut on Monk’s former assistant, Pep Clotet, stepping into the dugout with Leeds this summer, but there has been no clear indication of the direction Radrizzani will take when appointing his next ‘number one.’

Monk will be expected to be in another job by the start of the 2017/18 campaign, however, it is understood that Clotet wants to remain at Elland Road, either continuing his role as assistant manager, or taking over as the top boss.

Still, reliable journalist Phil Hay has provided some interesting insight into Clotet's standing with the Whites.

While the club are said to 'think a lot of him', they reportedly believe handing him the reigns as a No.1 so soon could be a gamble.

Here is some reaction from Twitter…
