Derby County manager Frank Lampard will be frustrated that midfielder Andy King will play no more football this season, after suffering "pretty severe" ankle ligament damage in the loss to Nottingham Forest it has been confirmed on the club website.

The Wales international's loan from Leicester will be cut short and he will return to the Premier League club while he recovers with a surgeon, to determine whether he will need surgery on the ankle problem.

Lampard said: "He is going down to see a surgeon. He's got a bad ankle injury. Unfortunately when it rains, it pours for us.

"Unfortunately for Andy King as much as anybody because he is a great pro, I've seen that in the short time he's been here. He was going to be important for us and then you get a freak injury."

So what will King be thinking after huge Derby setback?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"He’ll be fuming.

"King would have hoped that this could have been a fresh start at Derby so this latest injury blow will be hugely frustrating.

"A wasted move for both parties it seems to be."

Jay Taylor

“He will be cursing his luck.

“Game time had been hard to come by for the midfielder, so the move to Derby was perfect for him to be more involved.

“Having featured for the Rams its horrendous luck to be out for the season with a freak injury.

“It looked to be a great signing on paper, but it’s over before it has begun.”

Gary Hutchinson

“I imagine he’ll be focused on helping them up the table.

“He’s a professional, he’ll want what is best for the team.

“He’s been playing football at least, which is more than he was doing.”

Alfie Burns

“He is going to be absolutely gutted.

“Derby offered him a lifeline after a torrid spell with Leicester and he had a chance to set himself up well for the summer.

“He will be questioning where he goes from here.”
