Yannick Bolasie's spell with Aston Villa is one that many fans will be eager to forget with the exciting summer signing failing to live up to expectations.

After arriving from Everton on a season-long loan in the summer he went on to score just twice in 22 matches before cancelling the deal himself in January.

But he will have gained a few more fans on Monday after he named Villa midfielder Jack Grealish as the best player in the Championship.

Grealish, who signed a new long-term deal with his boyhood club back in the summer, has spent much of the current campaign on the sidelines, missing the last 12 matches with a shinbone injury.

But when he has played under Dean Smith he has impressed, scoring twice and assisting four more in a six-match spell in November.

With the likes of Teemu Pukki, Billy Sharp, Mario Vrancic and Dwight Gayle all proving to be top Championship talents, is Bolasie right?

We discuss...

George Harbey

"He is definitely up there.

"You only have to look at how much Villa have struggled without him since he’s been injured.

"Not many players get linked with a move to Tottenham for millions of pounds."

Jacob Potter

"On his day he is the best in the Championship.

"He has shown glimpses of his quality, but he needs to stay injury-free to be labelled as the best in the league.

"Grealish has the quality to change the course of a game on his own at times, and if he can do that on a regular basis, then there's no doubting that he's one of the best."

Chris Gallagher

"I'd just about agree.

"I know his stats aren't as impressive as they should be but in terms of natural ability and his importance to the team, I think Grealish is the best.

"He was heavily linked with Spurs last summer, which says a lot and I think he will get a move to a club of that level in the next window."
