‘He hasn’t a prayer’ – Plenty of Leeds United fans react to pundit’s Jack Clarke claim

Paul Robinson has recently insisted that Jack Clarke is ready for a Premier League loan if he is unable to break into the first-team at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

The 19-year-old is yet to feature for Spurs since joining from Leeds United in the summer, having endured loan spells at Elland Road and Queens Park Rangers this season.

After failing to make a single starting appearance in the Championship upon his return to Elland Road, Clarke has since failed to make a real impact since joining QPR.

Has Kalvin Phillips done these 12 things at Leeds United?

Played over 150 games?

The young winger has made only four appearances in the Championship, all from off the bench, whilst his only start for the West London side came in the FA Cup.

But speaking to Football Insider, former Whites shot-stopper Robinson has insisted that Clarke is ready to spend time on loan with a Premier League side, if he isn’t part of Jose Mourinho’s plans next term.

He said: “Next year is a fresh start for him. It didn’t work out at Leeds and he did not hit the ground running at QPR either.

“Jack needs to be in and around the first team if he is going to stay at Spurs.

“He has got his experience at Leeds and QPR and it is a conversation between player, manager and club now as to what is best for his development.

“I think he needs to be in and around the first team or get some more game time where he can be guaranteed minutes. He would demand a Premier League loan.”

Plenty of Leeds fans have since reacted to Robinson’s latest claims, having seen their youth product flatter to deceive in his second spell in West Yorkshire.

Here’s what they had to say, via the Leeds United Supporters Group on Facebook

Peter Duval: He hasn’t a prayer. At QPR Osayi-Samuel is light years ahead of him

John Charles: No premiership team who have to name a squad of 25 is going to risk a place on Jack Clarke. The best he can hope for is a loan back in the championship.

Danny McKenzie: Should sign for Celtic. Did Patrick Roberts a world of good a couple of years with them.

Wayne Shaw: Jack had the world at his feet at 17, soon as he turned 18 he started drinking. He got to big of his boots and now he’ll struggle for anyone to take on a lad that likes the drink, doesn’t put the effort in and has a bad attitude

Graeme Paul: Cruel game this football.

Gary Hartley: Don’t know what he seeing that most others are not. Seems like a very long shot.

Çhoffy Pīes: Couldn’t hack it under Bielsa. Lost his way completely. Happens to so many of them. He’ll turn out to be championship/L1 player at best. Silly boy….

Carlton Jaffir: Sadly i can see Jack Clarke slipping off into the tabloid heading in a few years, ‘I played for Leeds then signed for Tottenham before enjoying life working at Wetherspoons’ He should not have listened to his agent.A great career,i hope isn’t wasted..
