Jay Rodriguez could go full circle and return to the Premier League by joining boyhood club Burnley, report the Express & Star.

The West Brom striker scored 22 goals in 48 appearances this season, but the 29-year-old would surely jump at the chance to return to the club where he started his career.

It would mark a bad spell to the summer by The Baggies, who recently pulled out of the race to re-sign 24-goal striker Dwight Gayle.

Rodriguez endured a tough spell out injured and it took him a long while to recover, but he has since found his feet playing in the Championship and would relish the opportunity to get back to the big time.

In his last season in the Premier League Rodriguez scored just seven goals in a struggling West Brom side, so how would he fair at Burnley?

Our writers discuss the possible move...

George Harbey "I think that Rodriguez would be a very decent signing for Burnley. "He's a player that obviously knows the club well, and is bound to be feeling full of confidence after an impressive season up top for West Brom. "I believe that he can still cut it in the Premier League, and he offers something different to what they already have in their attacking armoury." Toby Wilding "This could be a good signing for Burnley. "Rodriguez is about as clinical as they come in the Championship, and having someone with his finishing ability would end the reliance on Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood somewhat. "The fact he knows the club already, and could be available on the cheap, only serves to make the move seem even more sensible." Jacob Potter "He has unfinished business there. "Rodriguez has already shown that he is far too good to be plying his trade in the Championship for another season. "He's in his prime at the moment, and would be a really good option to have for Sean Dyche's side next season. "Rodriguez would be more than capable of challenging the likes of Chris Wood for a starting spot in the Burnley squad."
