The pressure has mounted on Carlos Carvalhal and his Sheffield Wednesday as the Owls suffer a 2-0 defeat at home to fellow play-off hopefuls Reading on Friday night.

The hosts would have been hoping to put some daylight between themselves and seventh-placed Fulham ahead of the visit of Jaap Stam's Royals who's form has been differing of late.

Wednesday got off to a poor start as Reading forward Yann Kermorgant slotted inside the first quarter of an hour to give the visitors an advantage.

Carvalhal's men had several chances during the course of the game, especially from loanees Will Buckley and Jordan Rhodes but both were unable to hit the net.

In the likeliness of bagging a point, the Owls brought goalkeeper Keiren Westwood up for a corner but Reading doubled their lead when Adrian Popa hit home into an empty goal.

This result means Sheffield Wednesday have just one point separating themselves and Fulham ahead of the rest of the weekend's action. Here is how Owls' fans reacted on Twitter.....
