Reading sit in 20th in the Championship after last night’s defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

Paul Clement’s men went down by the odd goal thanks to  Toni Leistner just after the hour mark to halt the home side's recent upturn in results from the last two games.

The Royals have lost three of their last five matches after last night’s reverse against their London counterparts.

Clement has tried to add to his side that ended in desperate fashion last season in a bid to change their fortunes.

Several players have left the club, while many more have been recruited to get the Royals back to a play-off place they were able to obtain three years ago.

With players coming and going, existing first-team stars will have fresh competition for places and the need to be at their best each week will become much greater.

After a poor start, Clement will be hoping to lift his side’s form once more and not allow them to be stagnant towards the lower end of the table.

Players could find themselves in and out of the side, with players who are impressing possibly wanting a move away if Reading continue to struggle.

If the trend continues, there will be players who will be wanting move away to get regular first-team football having been left out of a losing side, as well as players on top form catching the eye of potential new suiters.

With that said, we here at FLW asked our team of writers to identify one player they think is almost certain to leave Reading in January.

Alfie Burns

Pelle Clement could be someone who needs a move in the New Year.

His limited action so far this season indicates he isn’t part of Paul Clement’s plans.

In truth, it’s never really happened for the Dutchman at the Madejski Stadium and getting some regular football during the second half of the season could be required.

Chris Gallagher

Tyler Blackett.

The Reading defender has, rightly, found himself out of the team and sometimes the squad in recent weeks, so he clearly isn't a favourite under Paul Clement.

With new defensive additions likely in January, that could push the former Manchester United man further down the pecking order, and he should leave.

Louie Chandler

Paul McShane.

The centre-back is nowhere near as good as he once was in the Championship and Reading need better in when battling relegation.

If either Moore of Illori gets injured, Clement will want better as back-up.

George Harbey

Adrian Popa, he has to escape the Madejski.

He has made just one appearance for Reading this season and has only featured 17 times for the Royals since joining the club in January 2017.

A January move would be beneficial for both parties.
