West Brom are said to be interested in signing Rangers captain, James Tavernier, with the defender having just a year remaining on his contract according to the Birmingham Mail.

Tavernier has been in impressive form this season, scoring 16 goals from right-back, with the full-back making a name for himself in scoring set pieces.

The Baggies' interest in signing a right-back won't come as a surprise, with Mason Holgate set to depart the club upon the conclusion of his loan spell from Everton.

He could well be tempted by the prospect of potentially playing Premier League football, but that all depends on whether Jimmy Shan's side can overcome a one-goal deficit against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.

The 27-year-old will certainly be a man in demand in the summer, although it remains to be seen as to whether a formal offer will be submitted by the Baggies in the summer.

But would Tavernier get into West Brom's starting XI next season?

We discuss....

Toby Wilding:

"I could see him starting.

"The Baggies have used plenty of loan players on a regular basis this season and they will need to be replaced whatever division they are in next season.

"Tavernier has shown consistency during his time at Rangers that he has the ability to start, and he will surely be keen to get his opportunity in English football's top-flight."

Jacob Potter:

"He'd definitely be worthy of a starting spot.

"Tavernier's attacking instincts from full-back would be an excellent option to have for the Baggies next season, and he should be top of their shopping list in the summer.

"He's more than capable of being a regular for West Brom for next year's league campaign."

Chris Gallagher:

"Without a doubt.

"Going forward he is terrific and is exactly what West Brom need at wing-back if Jimmy Shan is going to continue with a back three moving forward.

"He has real quality on the ball and any defensive concerns would be eased by playing further up the pitch.

"He would add a lot to this Baggies side."
