Kalvin Phillips is a player who seriously stepped up for Leeds United last season, becoming one of the club's most important players.

He played 42 times in the Championship for the Whites last season as they came agonisingly close to winning promotion back to the Premier League.

After being beaten to second place by Sheffield United, Bielsa's side were then dumped out of the play-offs by Derby County last week.

But he is somebody who is set to attract a lot of transfer interest and, in an interview with Football Insider, former striker Noel Whelan has had his say.

He has urged the club to give Marcelo Bielsa the final say on any deal involving Phillips.

So, is this the right move?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"He's spot on.

"Bielsa has played a crucial role in Phillips' development this season, and he's been one of Leeds' best players by some distance.

"Bielsa needs to build a squad that he thinks is capable of challenging for promotion next season, and he's had such an impact in the turnaround at Elland Road, he deserves to have his say on Phillips' future at the club."

Ben Lang

"This would definitely be the correct call in my opinion.

"Bielsa must be granted full autonomy if he is to succeed at Leeds next season, and he needs to make the final call on Phillips given his importance this year.

"Radrizzani will have made Bielsa well aware of the club's financial situation, so the Argentine should be trusted to make this call."

Louie Chandler

"Whelan is correct here.

"It would be outrageous if the club started selling players against their manager's wishes and would surely only serve to set them back.

"Bielsa has already made such a big difference at Elland Road and he has more than earned the right to have a say."
