Football League World's Reading fan pundit Nathan Cole has today provided his opinion on the start that midfielder Charlie Adam has made to life at the Berkshire based club this season, since arriving from Stoke City on a free transfer this summer.

The former Blackpool man has had a frustrating start to life at the Madejski Stadium, with the 33-year-old having only made just four substitute appearances for the Royals so far, failing to make an impact in most games with a pass success rate of just 67.4%.

Cole was quick to give a damning assessment of the veteran's showings so far in the blue and white shirt, with our fan pundit stating the following when we caught up with him earlier today:

"Charlie Adam's start to life at Reading so far hasn’t filled me with confidence, he has been very poor in the games in which he has played and the fans are not excited when he is picked in the matchday squad.

" I don’t think he should be starting more games than he is at the moment because there are better options in his position and I also doubt he would make much of an impact if he was selected in the team more often."

Cole was then asked about what he felt Adam's best qualities as a player are, to which he gave a blunt response:

"The only real quality that Charlie Adam possesses is that he can ping a ball from one side of the pitch to another really well.

"However when he has done that in the games he has played, some of his team mates haven’t been on the same wavelength as the midfielder, with most of those passes going out for goal kicks or throw-ins."

Lastly, our fan pundit gave his thoughts on Adam's future at the club, with the Royals fan saying:

"I don't think Bowen will move him on because those two know each other very well from their time at Stoke and I think from time to time Bowen will give Adam more playing time than Gomes did."

It is fair to say that Charlie Adam has cut a frustrated figure since arriving in Berkshire, and only time will tell if the midfielder can reinvigorate his stuttering career, with his time as a footballer seemingly beginning to wind down quicker by the season.
