Bradford City, Salford and Tranmere Rovers are interested in signing Mansfield Town striker Danny Rose, according to The Sun journalist Phil Cadden.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the most clinical forwards in League Two over the last few years, and is now attracting interest ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

Bradford will be looking to win promotion to League One at the first time of asking next term, but they face competition from EFL new boys Salford City, who will be looking to stamp their authority next season.

With Tranmere also believed to be interested, FLW writer George Harbey discusses this piece of transfer news...

Who is Danny Rose?

"Rose is a 25-year-old forward who signed for Mansfield from Bury in 2016, when they were managed by Adam Murray.

"He came through the ranks at Barnsley, before making a move to Gigg Lane in 2014 following two successful loan spells with the Shakers.

"He has now been at the One Call Stadium for three years, with clubs now beginning to start to circle around the striker."

How did he get on the 2018/19 campaign?

"Last season culminated in heartbreak for Mansfield, but it was an even more disappointing one for Rose.

"In the 2017/18 campaign, the forward found the net 17 times in all competitions, but scored just five goals for the Stags last term.

"He made 44 appearances, but most of them came as a substitute, having fallen behind the likes of Tyler Walker, Craig Davies and Nicky Ajose in the pecking order."

Would he be a good signing for Bradford?

"I think that out of all the clubs that are believed to be interested, Bradford would make the most sense.

"The Bantams have already completed the signing of Clayton Donaldson from Bolton Wanderers, which is a very impressive signing for the League Two side, and the addition of Rose would complete a lethal strikeforce ahead of next season.

"He is also from Yorkshire, so a move back up there could make perfect sense."

Would he be a good signing for Tranmere?

"Tranmere definitely need a striker having let go of James Norwood to Ipswich, but I'm not sure if Rose is able to step up in his absence.

"He has proven to be a clinical forward in League Two over the last couple of years, but after a disappointing campaign last term, I think he would be wise to stay in League Two.

"Micky Mellon's side are believed to be interested in James Vaughan on a free transfer, and I personally think that he would be a better signing."

Can you see Salford winning the race for him?

"I wouldn't put it past Salford signing him at all.

"They have already completed some very, very good signings this summer, especially the addition of Richie Towell following his release from Brighton.

"It's well-documented how much money they have, and you imagine that they would offer more money than the other two clubs to get their man."

Finally, how likely is a move away from Mansfield this summer?

"I think Mansfield will definitely be expecting Rose to leave this summer.

"He only has one year left on his contract at Mansfield, and having just signed Andy Cook from Walsall, his game-time could be even more limited next season.

"He has a point to prove, that's for sure."
