Swansea City may still be on the hunt for a new permanent manager, but that has not stopped the club continuing with its summer transfer business, with Plymouth Argyle midfielder Ruben Lameiras a target, according to Football Insider.
Lameiras is out of contract at relegated Argyle this summer, but he has been one of the bright spots in a disappointing season, scoring 11 goals and recording six assists in 44 appearances for the Pilgrims.
So, if the Swans do manage to seal an agreement for him, would the former Spurs academy graduate get into the Swans’ starting XI?
“He’d definitely have a chance of breaking into the side on a regular basis, with Lameiras having some outstanding qualities.
“The midfielder scores and creates goals and on a free, there’s limited risk.
“Obviously there’s going to be plenty of change in Wales this summer, so you’d maybe have to answer this when we know who is going to be in-charge at the Liberty Stadium.”
“He has a great chance.
“Swansea will need to replace the attacking threat of Daniel James, who looks certain to move on from the club, and Lameiras has a similar element of pace and trickery about him.
“He may never have played at this level of football before, but Swansea have been more than happy to use James this season, and he hadn’t played at any level of football before.”
“It depends who leaves in the summer.
“Lameiras is a quality attacking talent but if Swansea can hang onto their own stars then he will have some work to do to get a starting role.
“However, I have no doubt that he is capable of stepping up to the Championship and would be an excellent signing for Swansea.”
