Brentford manager Thomas Frank continues the freshening up of his Bees squad, with Arsenal midfielder Krystian Bielik the latest name to be linked with a move to Griffin Park, according to The Telegraph.
Frank faces competition from Championship rivals Derby, West Brom and Middlesbrough if he wishes to secure the signature of the Polish U-21 international, who flourished on loan at Charlton last season in League One as they sealed promotion to the Championship.
But would Bielik prove a good addition at Griffin Park?
“I think Bielik would be an excellent addition for the Bees, as his quality in possession means he fits the Brentford mould nicely.
“Bielik is capable of dictating play from deep in midfield and he would compliment the Bees’ expansive playing style, while he would also add some much-needed steel to their midfield.
“Brentford knew they needed to recruit midfielders this summer and they have already done so with the additions of Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen. The signing of Bielik would mean Brentford have a strong array of options in the middle of the park.
“This would also be another statement signing from Brentford, who have made an excellent start to the window. If they can beat other Championship clubs to Bielik’s signature, it will prove that they are lining up a promotion bid next term.”
“I can see this being a smart move from Brentford.
“Even with the arrival of Pontus Jansson, the departure of Ezri Konsa amongst others in the current transfer window means that they are somewhat short in defence, so Bielik could be a useful addition at Griffin Park.
“The mere fact that Bielik was picked up by Arsenal is evidence of his potential, and his contribution to Charlton’s promotion from League One last season suggests that he is ready to test himself in the Championship at the very least.
“With the number of other Championship clubs reportedly interested in Bielik, pulling off this signing would be yet another statement of intent from Brentford, in what has already been a hugely impressive summer transfer window for the Bees.”
“This would be an excellent signing.
“The Arsenal youngster is obviously going to struggle to break into the team in north London, so a move does seem inevitable and he is exactly what the Bees need.
“Whilst Thomas Frank has a good technical side, they need more physicality and strength. The addition of Pontus Jansson has helped on that front and Bielik would too.
“As well as that, the Polish U21 international can play, with his form for Charlton last season and for his country at the recent U21 European Championships showing what a talent he is. He would add competition in defence and midfield and would be a real coup.”
