Aston Villa manager Dean Smith could well be turning to his first-team coach John Terry for help amid reports in the Daily Mail that Chelsea are considering recalling Tammy Abraham from his loan.

The striker has been on-fire for Villa scoring 11 goals in the Championship so far this season, but his although his loan is for the season, Chelsea have an option to terminate it in January.

Abraham has told of how he has benefited from working under Terry, so how important could Terry be in keeping the 21-year-old at Villa?

We discuss.....

George Harbey

I don’t think he’s that important in keeping Abraham really.

If there’s an opportunity for Abraham to go back to Chelsea and gain some game-time in the Europa League, then I doubt he’d step in his way.

I think he’ll stay, however.

Gary Hutchinson

He does have influence at Chelsea, that is for sure.

He’s a club legend, but how much does that mean to their current hierarchy?

It’s okay being a big name form the past, but surely the new regime will make a decision based on their needs, not on what John Terry says.

On that point, I’d conclude he has little say at all.

Jacob Potter

He will play a crucial role

Abraham joined Villa in the summer and Terry will be hoping that his high-profile status in football will play a crucial part in persuading Abraham to stay.

If he does stay at Villa Park, then he can play a starring role in the future for Dean Smith’s side.
