Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa seems to be happy to stick with youth as he looks to provide cover for first choice keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, following the season ending injury to loan keeper Jamal Blackman.

Having been linked with Burnley keeper Tom Heaton, it has been reported in The Mirror, that Bielsa is not interested in the player who wants away from Burnley, as he is looking for a keeper who is better with his feet.

So is it a surprise that Bielsa in not considering Heaton?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Yes, and no, to be honest.

They have two good goalkeepers albeit one of them is injured in Jamal Blackman who has been on loan.

So it further reinstates Marcelo Bielsa’s faith in Bailey Peacock-Farrell between the sticks.

But I am surprised in a way they did not want an experienced stopper to help them towards their aim of promotion.

A reliable hand and consummate professional, he would have been some signing had Leeds gone for him.

Gary Hutchinson

Not really.

He didn’t strike me as a Bielsa signing.

He would have been superb, just what they need, but it isn’t the manager’s way.

He’ll bring in someone younger, understated and maybe even keep BPF as the number one.

Tom Heaton

I’m very surprised at that.

If a player like Heaton becomes available to you, then you should grab the opportunity with both hands.

They desperately need a keeper, so it’s definitely an odd one.
