Derby County will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Championship when they face Preston North End next weekend.

Since opting to appoint Phillip Cocu as their new manager in July, the Rams have struggled in the second-tier during the opening months of the season.

With the likes of Duane Holmes, Kieran Dowell and Jamie Paterson all failing to deliver the goods on a consistent basis for Derby, the Dutchman may turn to one of the club's academy products for inspiration against Preston.

Utterly sensational in the Rams' 7-1 victory over Leeds' Under-23 outfit earlier this week, Louie Sibley netted a hat-trick for his side at the Loughborough University Stadium.

Football League World Derby County fan pundit Lisa Howard has suggested that the midfielder should be in the Rams' senior squad for their upcoming clash with Preston.

"I have been asking for Sibley to be in the first team for a while.

"I have watched him play several times for the under-23s and he is a real talent.

"He is strong and has a real eye for goal as demonstrated by the hat-trick that he scored on Wednesday against Leeds.

"He is also a good passer of the ball, and is more than capable of reading the game.

"He deserves a shot, and I want to see him in the squad against Preston."

Howard has insisted that she does not want to see Sibley leave the club on a temporary basis in the January transfer window.

"I do not want Sibley to go out on loan in January.

"He needs to stay at Derby and get a chance here.

"Cocu wants to keep the young players at Pride Park as it will allow him to see their progression at close quarters."

Currently 16th in the Championship standings, the Rams could close the gap between them and the play-off places to four points if they beat Preston on November 23rd.
