Reading have had an inconsistent season far, but since Mark Bowen has come into the club the Royals have been able to collect 10 points from their last 12 available to them.

They've been in brilliant form in recent weeks and have had a whole host of plaudits since Bowen took over. One man who's particularly impressed is John Swift.

We take a look at the 24-year-old's season so far in an FLW Six Pointer...

How has he played so far in the current campaign?

"Swift has been absolutely brilliant, and taken the Championship storm. He's number one in the leaderboard for chances created and looks a completely different player to last season.

"There's something about him in this current campaign, and he seems to have more zip and edge to his play. With two goals and six assists so far, you can't argue that he's an influential player in this Reading side."

Has he always been this good?

"Well, when he first joined Reading, under Jaap Stam he had a great first season but then after the play-off final he has looked very poor. He's been sloppy on the ball and given it away in crucial circumstances that have led to goals.

"He's also been injured a few times and had to change the way he ran to deal with the hamstring issues that he was facing."

What has changed?

"He actually doesn't have a set position in this Reading side, and he likes to roam around the centre of the pitch helping out Andy Rinomhota defensively and then linking up excellently with Ovie Ejaria in the attacking third of the pitch."

What's the key to getting the best out of him?

"Consistency around him. Under Stam, it was often the same team playing with him, and Swift learnt other players strengths and weaknesses and when they wanted the through balls etc that he can play.

"Now he's playing regularly with Ejaria and the two players' link-up play is sometimes breath-taking to watch, especially for a Championship side."

Does he deserve more recognition?

"I think so, yes. He deserves a lot more recognition and to be labelled as one of the Championship's best. He's got so much about him when he's in this fine form, and would be beneficial to any side in the division.

"Reading fans are starting to credit him more and more as weeks go by, and he's becoming a key member of the Royals squad."

Can he keep it up?

"Well, this is the big question, he's done it before and hasn't been able to keep it up but Reading have played 15 games this season and he's been consistently good so far.

"If he can keep it up, then there's no reason why he can't help the Royals to a top-half finish."
