According to the Daily Record, Queens Park Rangers have joined the pursuit of 17-year-old Aaron Hickey.

Mark Warburton’s good start to life at QPR continued at the weekend, as his side beat Hull City 3-2 to go 5th in the Championship.

Ryan Manning scored the first, with Ebere Eze scoring twice from the spot in the second-half to seal his side’s fourth win in six games.

The West Londoners are asserting themselves as real play-off contenders this season, and it’s today been reported that Warburton will try and boost his chance of a top-six finish with the acquisition of Hearts’ Aaron Hickey in January.

The left-sided wing back has broken into the first team at Hearts this season, and has been a standout performer in their otherwise poor start to the SPL season.

It’s made him the subject of a January move south of the border, and QPR could well be his destination.

In the latest FLW Six-Pointer, we discuss whether he’d be a good signing for Warburton’s side.

Do QPR need a left-back?

Potentially, yes.

Ryan Manning has been QPR’s left-back this season and after impressing in his new position, has seen himself the talk of a January transfer too.

Southampton and Newcastle are being linked with a January move for the Irishman and should he leave Loftus Road in the New Year, he’ll definitely need replacing.

Would he suit QPR’s style of play?

He would.

QPR under Warburton have developed their own brand of attacking football which sees their full-backs on the ball a lot of the time.

Manning has been the club’s most creative player this season, and Hickey has proved his forward ability at Hearts this season as well as his defensive.

Does he match QPR's new approach with signing players?

Having suffered from years of overspending in the Premier League, the QPR of new are extremely stringent with their signings.

Very little was spent on singings in the summer, but of the 14 loan and free signings that came in, the bulk of them were younger players.

He definitely ticks the boxes for QPR.

Could QPR afford him?

Scottish football isn’t known for being lucrative, and teams in the English Football League often dip into the Scottish ranks in hope of finding a bargain.

QPR shouldn't have to stump up much for Hickey, but Hearts may try and negotiate a better deal for the full-back.

Warburton though kept spending to a minimum in the summer, and might be willing to spend some money to get Hickey over the line in the New Year.

Would he want to join QPR?

Given QPR’s start to the season, I don’t see why Hickey would turn down the move.

Fifth in the Championship after 12 games, and Warburton’s side look keen on a play-off spot come May.

With the potential for Premier League action next season, Hickey could push for a move to West London.

Would he pick QPR over Manchester City?

I think more and more young players are seeing big-money moves to clubs like Manchester City as a negative.

Too often these players go to big clubs and find themselves being loaned-out for seasons at a time.

Hickey might see the chance of being a first-team regular at QPR as a better option than City.
