Reading are without a win in seven Championship games and Jaap Stam’s men are in serious danger of facing a relegation battle this season.

Having lost the play-off final on penalties last season, many observers had high hopes for Reading to go one better this time around.

However, that hasn’t happened and Stam will be looking to use the January window to strengthen his squad to ensure they can end the campaign on a high.

The Royals spent a significant amount in the summer, with Sone Aluko the big-name arrival from Fulham and money is seemingly available again this window.

A striker seems a priority for the former Manchester United defender and Reading have been linked with moves for the likes of Chris Martin and long-term target Jordan Hugill among others.

But, what would be the dream end to the window for the club?

We take a look…

Alfie Burns

Another striker arriving at the Madejski would help to lift the mood.

Reading have previously had Jordan Hugill, Nelson Oliveira and Chris Martin on their radar, with the latter reportedly a target this month.

If the Royals can get Martin in, he could save Stam’s job.

George Dagless

Signing players that can score goals.

The Royals have had a tough campaign and haven't scored nearly enough goals so far this season.

They need to look for a goal-scorer who will get them up the table and then ready for next season.

Sam Preston

Chris Martin comes through the door to score the goals to lift the mood at the club.

If Reading are going to stick with Jaap Stam, they are going to need a new player to boost the club and Martin looks the most likely right now.
