‘He best do’ – Plenty of Stoke City fans react in Jack Butland debate

It’s fair to say that it has been a rather inconsistent and mixed season for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Potters started the season off in dismal style, losing eight of their opening 10 league matches before picking up their first win of the season against Swansea City in October.

During that run of 10 games without a win, Butland’s confidence was at an all-time low, making big errors in defeats to Preston and Nottingham Forest before being dropped from the team by Nathan Jones.

Who was the manager when Stoke signed Shay Given?

Butland was to return to the side and replace Adam Federici, but the England shot-stopper was performing nowhere near his usual standards to say the least.

Since Martin O’Neill’s arrival, Butland’s form has improved, with Stoke climbing out of the relegation zone and rising up to 17th in the league standings after a real upturn in form.

With one year left on Butland’s contract, O’Neill has a dilemma on his hands; does he look to cash in on the goalkeeper this summer, or run the risk of potentially seeing him leave on a free transfer next summer.

After having the likes of AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa after his signature last summer, it’s unlikely that they will reignite interest in Butland having now moved on and explored other targets.

A group of Stoke fans have been having their say on Twitter, discussing Butland’s future at the bet365 Stadium…
