Sanderson is a figure who is proving to be central to all of the good work that is being done at the Stadium of Light at the moment. The defender’s presence at the heart of the defence has been vital to them establishing themselves as the main challenges to Peterborough United and Hull City for one of the top two automatic promotion spots.
The Black Cats clearly want to keep the defender at the club beyond the end of his loan spell, and that would be a massive coup for the football club given how much he has impressed not just them but also other potential suitors this term. Sanderson clearly feels part of the group at the Stadium of Light and enjoys playing such a key role in the side.
Sunderland fans will hope he can continue to perform to his current standard and then be convinced to sign on permanently in the summer if they go on to earn promotion. He will be vital to their prospects of doing that and if he can help them keep picking up clean sheets they may well be back in the second tier by the season’s end.
