A number of Ipswich Town supporters have been reacting to the latest report from the East Anglian Daily Times that Paul Cook has informed the majority of his current squad that they can leave this summer.
The Tractor Boys endured a poor ending to the campaign under Cook and the Ipswich boss has already started to take a ruthless approach towards his plans to improve things for next season. The likes of Cole Skuse, Alan Judge, Stephen Ward, Freddie Sears and Emyr Huws are amongst the eight players who have already been released by the club.
It is now being reported that Cook has informed homegrown talents like Flynn Downes, Andre Dozzell, Luke Woolfenden, Jack Lankester and Armando Dobra that they can find new clubs during the summer transfer window as well. That comes despite them being contracted to the club and some having deals lasting for extended periods.
Quiz: Did these 18 players make more than 100 Ipswich Town appearances?
In addition, the likes of Teddy Bishop, Myles Kenlock and goalkeepers Tomas Holy and David Cornell have also been informed they can move on from Portman Road. While Kayden Jackson and Toto Nsiala are both going to be made available for transfer even though options were only just recently taken up on their deals.
Some Ipswich fans were left surprised by this latest report and concerned over these plans, while others think that a rebuild is something that does need to happen and they are prepared to support this approach.
Here, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…
It’s sad but did any of our so called great youngsters actually make a difference or create any spark last season? Is it a mental thing or are they not as good as we think? #demolitionman

The only one I’d be disappointed to lose is Dobra. He looks like he’s got the right attitude and ability. Downes clearly doesn’t want to be here, and has anyone seen anything consistently from Dozzell/Woolfenden to think they’re going to be top players? #ITFC

Id be disappointed to see so much home grown talent Downes, Dobra, Lankester, Woolfenden etc leave.
Mr Ashton and co are going to be busy this summer #itfc

This is a very risky strategy imo but also very exciting. Sounds like Norwood and KVY the only players looking to be retained?

Whilst I believe in Cook and think he's the right man, what worries me is that again a manager is having so much control to rip a team and backroom staff apart. I'm all for change but it has to be measured the structures sustainable.

Well, if it comes to pass, and it doesn’t wind up a complete disaster (which it has done previously), I’ll wait until the 2022/23 season before putting any money on a promotion. Next season’s got “gel team and make progress” written all over it”.

Cook wants to get rid of Downes, Dobra & Woolfenden. He doesn’t want Bishop although he let him play enough games to trigger an extension. I am having serious doubts about this man. Not all the Town players are hopeless, just because Cook couldn’t get them to play.

Now this is what I wanted to hear. I'd like to keep Downes and Dobra though. Think Dozzell would be good in a functioning team too. Guess both will have suitors and bring in funds though… #itfc

Absolutely for this. Players we've got have shown over the last few seasons they can't be consistent in L1. The only people I'd be sad to see go are Downes/Dobs. Players like Woolfy/Dozzell I think have an easy ride because they've come through the academy. Rebuild begins! #itfc https://t.co/krm7iq7JKf
