Aston Villa must prioritise a move for Emi Buendia this summer, according to Lee Hendrie.
The Norwich City winger has been a star performer for the Canaries so far this term and has played a vital role in the club’s journey to the cusp of promotion back to the Premier League after scoring 12 times and adding 16 assists to the cause.
Since then numerous clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the player, but Hendrie has told Football Transfer Tavern that the Argentine must be at the top of Dean Smith’s transfer list.
So would Buendia be a good move for Aston Villa? The team at FLW have their say…
A very good move, but for me I just don’t see it happening really.
He is a player who could quite easily play for one of the top sides in the Premier League and for me Aston Villa don’t quite fall into that bracket just yet.
There’s no doubting that he would be a player that’s needed due to the quality that he possesses but it’s just not realistic in my eyes.
Buendia will command a substantial fee if he does leave and I think he would only move to a club that’s competing in Europe if truth be told.
What a signing Buendia could be for Villa.
The winger has proven a level above the Championship this season and adding him to Dean Smith’s side would surely help them to continue to progress.
If they want to keep competing in the top half of the table, they’ll need to add more quality this summer and signing Buendia would do just that.
Having him and Jack Grealish in the side would be a nightmare for opposition defences, while his arrival should help to take some of the pressure off the Villa skipper.
There isn’t a Premier League squad, bar maybe Man City, that he wouldn’t improve – Villa are no different.
Are these 17 facts about Norwich City's club badge true or false?
I think this would be a top signing for Villa, however I’m not sure whether it’d a good move for him.
Buendia is currently the best player in the Championship, for me, and I can definitely see him attracting interest even though Norwich look set to go up this season.
I genuinely believe Buendia would be a shrewd capture for someone like Arsenal, who have been heavily linked with the playmaker’s signature.
Villa have had a decent season but have dropped off of late, and I think they have plenty of good wide options already in Anwar El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Bertrand Traore.
I’m not convinced by this one.
