Stoke City have had several key players that have played for the club since they were formed back in 1863, with every fan having their own personal favourite that has turned out in the red and white stripes.

From Glenn Whelan and Rory Delap to Peter Crouch and Robert Huth, there have been several names that have played a huge part in Stoke's history over the years.

Despite there being plenty of players that have been given credit over the years by the Stoke City faithful, there are also a select number that haven't received as much praise as perhaps they have deserved over the years of playing for the Stoke-on-Trent based club.

QUIZ: Can you name the season in which these 14 Stoke City images were taken? See if you can get full marks down below!

Given the fact that there are so many names that don't get the credit they necessarily deserve, we felt now was a good time for Football League World Journalist Chris Thorpe to ask members of the STOKE CITY fans from all around the world Facebook group about who they feel is the club's most underrated player of all time.

Naturally the question prompted various responses from the club's supporters and as such we have picked out a few of the best comments via social media.

Tom Williams: Sam Clucas.

Kieran PS: Steven N'Zonzi! We had no idea what we had until he was gone.

Laurence James: Ben Foster.

Stu Gosling: Huth - he was the real captain of that side & we haven’t been the same since he went.

Philip Kelsall: Eric Skeels! Played in every position for Stoke, including standing in as goalkeeper.

Linda Downs: Has to be Jonathan Walters.

Andrew Brookes: Alan Dodd and Loek Ursem.

Matt Campain: Glenn Whelan. After he left, we lost the glue that held our midfield together for so many years.

Tony O'Reilly-Brookes: Rory Delap, what a throw in.

Callum Kenny: Bojan.

Graham Anthony Kelsall: Jackie Marsh, some fans liked to have a go at him but he always gave 100%.

Peter Stoddart: Peter Fox.

Andy Bage: Peter Dobing.

John White: Gordon Banks & Peter Shilton were great players but for me it has got to be John Farmer.
