Millwall have been searching for their new manager ever since  Neil Harris decided to resign a couple of weeks ago due to the club's underwhelming start to the season.

Lions club legend Harris decided to leave the club just a day after Millwall's 1-1 draw away at Luton Town on 2nd October, in a game where Luton's Callum McManaman netted an equalier later on to prevent the Lions from taking all the points back home, and up stepped Adam Barrett to take the reins on a caretaker basis.

It has been widely talked about that Barrett was in contention for the Millwall job from the off, and the former Southend United centre-back proved that he may just have the credentials to take the Lions up the table and pull them away from the relegation zone as he led them to a memorable, yet controversial, 2-1 win over Leeds United at The Den in his first game in charge.

During that game with Leeds, Barrett showed that himself, his remaining backroom team and the Millwall players have the fight in them to produce some remarkable results across the course of the season as Millwall look to break into the Championship top half.

However, in the Leeds victory, it was more Barrett's tactical knowledge and his game management that helped Millwall over the line and impress the supporters, rather than the on-pitch performance of the players themselves.

Barrett consistently led Millwall towards the finish line as he bellowed instruction after instruction from the dugout, desperate to see the win out and claim the three points.

Barrett never gave up the fight and never rested on his laurels when his team went 2-0 up inside the first half, instead instructing Millwall to keep compact, to keep defending their way and to stick to the game plan, even when Leeds got back into it with a goal a minute after half-time.

Millwall should be able to see that Barrett has the ability for the job, despite still being young and not having tonnes of managerial experience or coaching experience, and that appointing a likeable character to the Den faithful has worked once before, four years ago when Harris took the job permanently.

Millwall should be looking no further than their current caretaker manager for the job as they face a slightly easier task this upcoming weekend, a trip to mid-table side Brentford.
