‘Has the potential to be a Reading great’ – Many Royal fans delighted at one man against Blackburn

Reading continued their remarkable start to the Championship campaign on Tuesday by beating Blackburn Rovers to move seven points clear at the top of the table.

Following on from their 14th-place finish last season, new manager Veljko Paunovic has enjoyed a dream opening few months in the hot-seat at the Madejski Stadium.

Heading to Ewood Park, the Royals had collected 19 points from a possible 21 available – with their goalless draw against Middlesbrough earlier this month their only dropped points.

Reading wasted no time in stamping their authority on what appeared their most difficult assignment of the season, taking the lead inside nine seconds through Yakou Meite’s fortunate opener.

Blackburn hit back through Adam Armstrong, but Paunovic’s men showed their quality by racing into a 3-1 first-half lead and in sight of their seventh league victory already.

Armstrong add his second after the break, but Reading’s inform striker Lucas Joao sealed the points with a wonderful individual effort eight minutes from time – his third goal in as many matches and eighth in total.

That’s one more than Joao managed throughout the whole of last season, and Royals fans were buzzing with his goalscoring performance – with many expressing their delight towards the Portuguese on Twitter.
