Despite having made 84 senior appearances for the club, Leicester City took the decision to loan out Hamza Choudhury this past summer.

Not only did Choudhury depart the club temporarily, but he moved a side a division down in the Championship, Watford.

Having joined the Hornets on a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy, with the World Cup break upon us, now seems a good time to reflect on how the midfielder has got on at Vicarage Road so far.

How has he done?

Since arriving at Watford, Choudhury has been excellent on the whole.

Whilst there have been the odd quiet game here or there, generally speaking, he has been on it most weeks, even when some teammates around him were not under Rob Edwards earlier on in the season.

Choudhury's work rate and tenacity are clear strengths of his, with those and his tackling ability allowing the midfielder to consistently break up play for the Hornets.

Indeed, Choudhury has also produced multiple tackles where he has chased down the opposing side on a counterattack and made a last-ditch tackle.

Whilst the Foxes midfielder does have some clear weaknesses, namely his ability on the ball, on the whole, as a ball-winning midfielder, he has done very well at Vicarage Road so far.

Indeed, whenever he has been available, he has started every match under two different managers, which tells you all you need to know.

Does he have a future at Leicester City?

To be honest, I do think Choudhury's future lies away from Leicester City.

It isn't like he is a youngster that has gone out to get more experience this season.

He already has it, and at 24, if Leicester wanted him, he would not currently be at Vicarage Road.

Add to that the fact the Foxes allowed an option to buy to be included in his loan suggests that his career at the King Power Stadium may be over.

Indeed, that release clause has been reported to be just £6 million, which, if you're Watford, is looking like a brilliant deal right now.

Whether the Hornets get promoted to the Premier League this season or not, if that is the fee, we would expect the Hornets to activate that option to purchase Choudhury permanently without much hesitation.
