Progressing through the academy ranks at Arsenal, Brooke Norton-Cuffy embarked on a loan spell with Lincoln City in January.

With Lincoln proving to be an excellent place for young players to develop over the last couple of seasons, it is fair to say that the 18-year-old has enjoyed a successful loan stint thus far.

The right-back, who has featured 14 times for the Imps this season, starting 10 of those matches, is also an England U19 international, starting all three matches during their recent European Championship qualifiers.

Playing with maturity beyond his years, Norton-Cuffy has certainly impressed thus far, with Lincoln boss Michael Appleton speaking to The Athletic about how he is putting in the work to fit in with the system deployed at the LNER Stadium.

Still learning his trade, Appleton also spoke to The Athletic about the fact that it has not quite worked out for the 18-year-old when operating as wing-back: “It’s been quite interesting of late because he (Norton-Cuffy) has played as a wing-back and it’s not quite worked (as well as full-back).

“He’s found it quite difficult because, instead of having the grass in front of him, it’s been taken and he’s in that last position to cross or make a pass. That’ll certainly help him going forward if he goes anywhere that plays with wing-backs."

However, this is a fantastic learning curve for the 18-year-old, who has been able to adapt to the rigours of playing regular football within a senior set up, with Appleton an excellent manager to develop under.

Norton-Cuffy's displays and potential means that he is likely to spark interest in what remains of this season.

It would be no surprise to see a number of loan opportunities arising in the summer should, given what he has already shown as an 18-year-old.

Taking into consideration the education he is getting at Lincoln and the incredibly high ceiling, Norton-Cuffy should still have a career at Arsenal, although, it will probably take him another couple of loan moves to fully click into gear.
