Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers are keen on a loan move for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell, according to yesterday's Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon.

The 24-year-old may not be required at Carrow Road this term after going out on loan to AFC Bournemouth during the second half of last season - but failed to make a real impression during his time at the Vitality Stadium.

With this, the Cherries opted against activating a clause that would see him make a permanent switch to the south coast and this has given Rovers the opportunity to try and secure an agreement for him this summer.

Now under the stewardship of Jon Dahl Tomasson, with changes also being made behind the scenes at Ewood Park, they may be set to launch a surprise offer to lure him away from Norfolk, though this would only be a temporary agreement at this stage.

Looking at this potential deal from the Lancashire side's point of view, would this be a good signing for a side like Blackburn who were chasing promotion for much of last season? And is he a much-needed figure in the middle of the park for Tomasson's side?

We asked three of our writers at Football League World to have their say on these two questions.

Cantwell's career in the last couple of years has been rather intriguing with him at one point being linked with the likes of Liverpool and now it seems as though he could leave Norwich.

That can happen sometimes, but I do not for a second think that he is a bad player and at the right club, he can shine again.

Perhaps a move is now needed away from Carrow Road for him to rediscover himself and I think Blackburn could be an exciting project to join.

Rovers have some good players in the squad and Cantwell would complement them nicely so I think if he went there it could potentially work out well for all involved.

Simmey Hannifin-Donaldson

I like this signing for Blackburn.

Cantwell has shown throughout numerous campaigns in the second tier that he is more than capable at Championship level and would add some much-needed creativity and attacking threat to Blackburn's midfield.

With Bradley Dack's recent injury record, it is a position of need for the club, too, who really struggled to score goals in the second half of last season.

With a year left on his contract, Norwich will likely want to cash in on the 24-year-old and so it is possible that Blackburn could strike a deal to secure his services this summer.

Todd Cantwell has been unplayable in the Championship at times, thriving during his spells in the second tier with Norwich City.

Evidently on the lower end of confidence at the moment, a move to Blackburn Rovers could be exactly what he needs to get back on an upward trajectory.

Possessing excellent ball-carrying abilities and great vision, Cantwell's ability to create and make things happen in the final third would make him an excellent fit at Ewood Park.

Now under Tomasson's stewardship, expectations will start to creep up again in Lancashire, with a possible Cantwell arrival likely to have the same impact.

Cantwell to Blackburn would be an excellent move for all parties, with the attacker in need of something like this to revitalise his career.
