Hartlepool United boss Ronnie Moore is diverting his attentions to the loan market that opens on Wednesday after seeing injuries and suspensions deplete his defensive options, according to the Sunderland Echo

Carl Magnay was sent-off last weekend

The Pools boss is looking for emergency loan deals to cover for his limited squad, following a red card to right-back Carl Magnay last weekend.

Following injuries to Michael Duckworth's hamstring and Jordan Richard's back, Magnay was shown a straight red for violent conduct in Hartlepool's 2-1 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, which leaves Moore in the unusual position of being without all three senior right-backs for the coming weeks.

Therefore, the Hartlepool manager is looking desperately at the loan market to bolster his options as the League Two season progresses, telling the Sunderland Echo: 'Right-back is a problem now.

'It is a position we will look at and if we can do something about that when the window opens, then we will get that done for this weekend.'

The loan market - an option for those that failed to complete their business before transfer deadline day - is now something that Hartlepool should be targeting as they aim to improve their League Two form and push for a top-six spot.

Moore's side have won three and lost three, albeit the last three, of their opening six League Two games, leaving them ninth in the table.

Conceding needless goals is limiting the North-East side as they look towards to upper-reaches of the League Two table, meaning that Moore wants to tighten up at the back to allow his attacking players to flourish without the risk of conceding goals.

Whether or not Moore will bolster his side's defensive options in the loan market remains to be seen. But what is clear is that the loan market is the best option for a side struggling defensively at this moment in time.
