Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore will be replaced by Sam Collins for this weekend’s fixture, the club site has confirmed.

Moore will be away from the club for a while

Moore missed his side’s victory on Tuesday night as his side overcame Fleetwood Town in the first round of the Capital One Cup, and will be absent this weekend as he visits his daughter in Spain who has fallen ill with pneumonia.

In a statement on the club website, Hartlepool said: “There has been some improvement in Charlotte’s condition over the last 24 hours but the club will continue to support Ronnie as he takes as much time as necessary to be with her and the rest of his family.”

Sam Collins will take charge when Hartlepool visit Russ Wilcox’s York City this weekend, and will be in charge indefinitely until any further news regarding Moore’s return is made.

The Pools have made a good start to the season. In addition to their Cup progression, Moore’s side won their opening League Two fixture with a win at home against Morecambe.

The club will be eager to avoid a similar fate to what they endured last season, spending much of the season involved in a relegation battle.
