Leeds United picked up another crucial win last weekend when they saw off Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Elland Road.

It was a win that saw them move three points clear in the race for automatic promotion after Sheffield United could only manage a 1-1 draw with Millwall.

It was a match that also saw the return of defender Gaetano Berardi to the starting XI thanks to the absence of Liam Cooper.

But, despite playing well, a former Leeds ace has called for him to be dropped for this Friday's match with Wigan Athletic with Cooper set to return.

Noel Whelan told Football Insider that "if Cooper is fit, he plays" but did admit that Berardi did "remarkably well".

So, is Whelan right? Should Leeds make the switch?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"I don't agree with him here.

"Berardi hardly put a foot wrong against Sheffield Wednesday and Cooper hasn't filled me with much confidence for the majority of this season.

"Berardi should be starting against Wigan, even if Cooper is deemed fit enough to play in this one."

George Harbey

"It’s harsh but fair to be quite honest.

"Berardi has been waiting patiently for his chance this season, as he has failed to nail down a place in Bielsa’s side due to injuries and the form of Cooper and Jansson.

"At this stage of the season, Leeds need their best players, and Cooper is one of them."

Toby Wilding

"I think he has to be, mainly because of Cooper's importance to Leeds.

"The Elland Road captain has been immense in the back line this season for Marcelo Bielsa's, and his presence and leadership could be crucial in getting them over the line in these final few games of the season."
