Huddersfield Town left-back Harry Toffolo has reflected on his start to life in the Championship, following his January move from League One Lincoln City to the John Smith's Stadium.

The Terriers came down from the Premier League with an almighty bump as they fell further down the footballing ladder towards the Championship relegation zone under Jan Siewert, before he was dismissed early into this year's campaign.

Danny Cowley came in from the Imps back in September and did well to steady their decline by steering the side to a solid unbeaten run to lift them out of the relegation zone and towards safety.

However, their form has dipped since then and they are now struggling again, just outside the drop zone by three points.

Harry Toffolo managed to form a reunion with his former manager Danny Cowley when the Terriers completed the signing of him in January from Lincoln.

He started his Huddersfield career very well, with a goal and an assist in February helping the West Yorkshire outfit to climbing away from the relegation zone, and seeing him scoop up the Player of the Month award at the John Smith’s Stadium.

A lot of players struggle to make the step up from League One to Championship football but Toffolo is one of a few players at Huddersfield that have eased through that transition. Speaking to the club’s official website, Toffolo had this to say on his start to life in the second tier: “I think, with me I’ve played an accumulation of a lot of games and I think the physicality of the league I’m ready for it.

“It’s just getting used to the quality and standard of players each week because every single week you’re playing against a top winger or full back so you have to keep working hard, doing a lot of homework on the videos, to make sure you’re in the right place.

“I’ve got the best two people guiding me at the minute with Danny and Nicky, and if I can continue to work with them, that’s great.”

Can you name these 15 former Huddersfield defenders?

The Verdict:

The Terriers have a very solid and dependable player on their hands in Toffolo and they can look forward to more solid showings before the end of the season.

Toffolo has been thrust right into a relegation battle which he has dealt with superbly so far and his efforts should be commended.

Going forward, Huddersfield will be hoping that they can push a lot further up the table next season, if they stay up, and the left-back will be a key part of that.

A lot of managers tend to fall back on players from former clubs as a crutch in the transfer market, but Toffolo has helped cap off what was a successful January window, with his performances showing that.
