Harry Toffolo has issued a social media message following the departure of Carlos Corberan from Huddersfield Town.

The Spaniard exited the club in surprising circumstances on Thursday morning.

The Terriers confirmed the move, with the decision coming very suddenly.

Toffolo was a key player under Corberan, who played 42 times for the team last season as they finished 3rd in the Championship table.

The defender thanked his former manager for the work he did both as a player and away from the game.

“Thank you Carlos & Jorge,” wrote the full back on Twitter.

“I wish you all the very best and thanks for everything you’ve done for myself on and off the pitch.”

Corberan managed the club for two seasons, leading the team to a 20th and 3rd place finish.

The side came within one game of gaining promotion to the Premier League last campaign, losing the play-off final 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

Forest have been linked with making a transfer move for Toffolo, who only has 12 months remaining on his contract with Huddersfield.

The news of Corberan’s departure has come in the middle of the team’s pre-season preparations.

Danny Schofield has been installed as his replacement.

The Verdict

Toffolo was an important player during Corberan’s tenure so it comes as no surprise to see him publicly thank his former manager.

Considering the 26-year-old is already rumoured to be leaving himself, this may only accelerate his decision to depart the club.

With Forest knocking on the door, that deal now could be the signal of a number of players leaving.

This is now a time of uncertainty as everyone picks up the piece of a very surprising moment for Huddersfield.
