Harry Toffolo says the chance to play Premier League football was too good to turn down, after joining Nottingham Forest from Huddersfield Town.

Left-back Toffolo spent the two-and-a-half years with Huddersfield, having joined the Terriers from Lincoln City back in the 2020 winter transfer window.

The 26-year-old enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season, scoring six goals and providing eight assists in 45 Championship games to help the club to the play-off final.

However, Huddersfield would miss out on promotion to the Premier League, after being beaten 1-0 by Forest themselves in the decisive Wembley showpiece.

Now though, Toffolo will get his chance in the top-flight after completing a permanent move to Forest, and it seems the chance to play at that level, was a key factor behind making that move.

Speaking after completing his transfer to Forest, the left-back told his new club's official website: "I'm extremely delighted to be here, to be able to join a football club with this much stature is fantastic and to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League is something I couldn't turn down.

"I'm excited, really looking forward to meeting the lads and we want to push forward in this division. We'll push each other every day and we've got a fantastic squad being put together.

"I'm a player who wears his heart on his sleeve and I'm someone that will fight for the badge and for the team every single minute and now I can't wait to get started."

Forest are also expected to complete the signing of Toffolo's former Huddersfield teammate, midfielder Lewis O'Brien, in the coming days.

The Verdict

This will surely be a big blow for Huddersfield going forward.

Toffolo was outstanding last season, and play a key role in the club getting so close to promotion, so his absence is likely to felt keenly in the coming campaign.

Indeed, the fact that he has left to join the club that ultimately prevented them from claiming a place in the Premier League, is only likely to rub salt into the wounds for the Terriers.

However, the Premier League is a divison just about any player would jump at the chance to play in, and given he would have no guarantee of this opportunity coming around again, you can understand his desire to take this chance.
