Having only three games in charge, veteran manager Harry Redknapp managed to keep the Blues in England's second tier, following two impressive wins over Huddersfield and Bristol City.

With, Redknapp yet to make a first team signing for his new-look Birmingham side, it's obvious that the 70-year-old is spending much needed time in picking out his targets.

One technique which has worked for many other teams, is attempting to sign former players who have developed over their time away from the club, and would be willing to return.

A former Blue, who may be willing to return to St Andrew's is Swedish midfielder, Sebastian Larsson.

After six successful seasons away from Birmingham, up north at Sunderland, Larsson has recently been released by the Black Cats, following their relegation down to the Championship.

The Swedish international played over 160 games for the Blues before his departure and was considered a fan-favourite.

Therefore, the Swede would be surely be welcomed back with open arms by the Blues fans.

Larsson would definitely be a superb signing for the Blues, if Redknapp is able to pull it off, and would more than likely add an attacking dimension to the team that finished 19th in the Championship last campaign.

The central midfielder, has great vision, two magnificent feet, and the capability of picking out a pass to anywhere on the field.

But these qualities are also accompanied by his incredible set-piece technique, both striking the ball and drifting the ball into danger zones.

The 32-year-old has also played regularly as a winger, but due to his age and lack of pace, may not excel as he used to in the Blues shirt, but could definitely put a shift in on the flanks, if injuries hit Redknapp's squad.

Blues fans... What do you think? Would you be happy with the signing of Larsson? Do you think he is a realistic target following his release? Let us know in the comments below!
