Speaking to ITV Racing, and reported by the Birmingham Mail, Harry Redknapp has put Birmingham City in the picture to sign Robert Snodgrass from West Ham United this summer.

Snodgrass looks set to leave West Ham this summer, having been told by the London club that he is available for transfer, despite only arriving at the club during the Janaury transfer window.

There are a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs looking to sign the Scottish international, with Aston Villa and Sunderland two clubs that are known admirers of Snodgrass.

However, Redknapp has put Birmingham’s name onto the list of club’s interested in signing Snodgrass, he said: "I think Snodgrass might leave West Ham. Aston Villa and one or two are in for him, Sunderland.

"I'd like him as well at Birmingham. Good player."

Redknapp has had a busy summer transfer window so far, with seven new faces already arriving at St Andrew’s.

The 70-year-old is keen to add more players to his squad before next week’s transfer deadline, as he looks to mould a squad capable of challenging for promotion in the Championship.

So far this season, Birmingham have struggled to make a serious impact on the Championship, winning just one of their first four fixtures and picking up four points.

Redknapp’s side finish August with a clash against Reading at St Andrew’s on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict

Snodgrass would be an excellent addition to any squad in the Championship, with the winger showing his class during spells with Leeds United, Norwich City and Hull City previously.

Obviously things haven’t worked out for Snodgrass with West Ham, but the quality he has shown previously has led to a host of clubs chasing his signature this summer.

Birmingham have had a busy summer so far, but the addition of Snodgrass, could arguably be the club’s best piece of business.
