Aston Villa yesterday completed the signing of Premier League legend John Terry on a short-term contract.

John Terry's trophy cabinet includes a Champions League and Europa League winners' medal as well as five FA Cup titles, five Premier League titles and many more.

The veteran centre-back decided to move to Aston Villa rather than join their bitter rivals Birmingham City.

The Blues instead landed Barnsley star Marc Roberts at centre-half and Harry Redknapp has since taken aim at John Terry's wage demands.

According to The Mirror, Harry Redknapp believes that he can sign five or six players now because of the money he has saved by not signing John Terry, who was available on a free transfer.

Birmingham City were reportedly willing to pay the former England international around £100,000 per week to take him to St Andrew's.

Now Redknapp will use that wage space to sign a number of other targets.

However, the former West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth and QPR boss added that he "would be a liar" to claim that he never wanted the 36-year-old.

Birmingham will now continue to revamp their squad ahead of next season after Redknapp rescued them from the danger of relegation to League One.

The Blues have already snapped up Marc Roberts and Brighton's David Stockdale and now Redknapp is looking to bring in five or six players with the John Terry money.
